Food Truck Business Plan Unit
Instructions:​
You are about to launch your own food truck business. To be successful, you must carefully design and plan every aspect of your operation. Below is a breakdown of what you will need to complete and how your work will be graded. A submission checklist is also included.

After you have completed EACH section of key criteria please submit a draft for feedback.

Submissions MUST be in Powerpoint, Google Slides, Canva, or equivalent.

1. Complete Truck Design & Cost Analysis (20 Points)

Interior Design (8 Points) – Layout, kitchen setup, and necessary equipment.

Exterior Design (5 Points) – Branding, truck wrap, colors, and signage.

Cost Analysis (7 Points) – Breakdown of expenses for the truck build-out.

2. Complete Menu Design & Cost Analysis (20 Points)

Menu Items – At least five fully developed items with descriptions.

Menu Design – A visually appealing menu that reflects your brand.

Profit Margins – Cost breakdown for each item and pricing strategy.

Seed Money – Develop an initial grocery list for your food truck for a weekend of sales.

3. Marketing Plan (25 Points)

Location (3 Points) – Detailed explanation of where you will operate and why.

Promotions (9 Points – 3x3) – Social media posts, a radio script, video reels, etc.

Advertise food specials, new locations, deals, or events

Competition (5 Points) – Analysis of competitors and how you will stand out.

Customer Base (5 Points) – Identification of target audience and strategies to attract them.

4. Licensing Costs & POS System (6 Points – 2x3)

Research and list necessary licenses and permits.

Choose a Point of Sale (POS) system and justify your choice.

5. Uniforms (9 Points – 3x3)

Design & Selection – Choose at least three uniform items from the following: hats, aprons, t-shirts, chef coats, or bandanas.

6. Merchandise (8 Points – 2x4)

Create/design 4-6 branded merchandise items:

2-3 Edible Items – Such as a signature sauce, spice blend, or snack.

2-3 Wearable Items – Such as a pin, shirt, or another promotional item.

Each item requires an explanation, a cost, and a selling price

A social media ad is required that showcases both an edible and a wearable item.

7. Job Posting (5 Points)

Write a job listing for a key position in your food truck (e.g., cook, cashier, manager).

Include description of the business, job responsibilities, required qualifications/skills, preferred qualifications/skills, and salary expectations.

8. Elevator Pitch (7 Points – 7x1)

A short, persuasive pitch (1-2 minutes) summarizing your business.
